Rainy Saturday

What do you do on a rainy Saturday in November? We headed to the Claude Moore Colonial Farm and Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum. The museum houses fake animals with real functions, like a cow with rubberized udders that spew a frightening substance when pulled. There's a chicken coop, complete with plastic chickens and eggs. Shiny tractors and other farm equipment are ....

We interrupt this broadcast to report a sighting of the Pileated Woodpecker, the most stunning and beautiful bird to visit our backyard feeder. It's been many months since we've been graced with a visit from this amazing bird, largely due to clearing of the tree save area and use of pesticides on areas adjacent to our property. It is a happy day, indeed!
